THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN MOUNT HOLLY NJ HAS CONFIRMED A

EF-0 TORNADO WITH ESTIMATED MAXIMUM WINDS OF 85 MPH NEAR CAMDEN

IN KENT COUNTY DELAWARE ON 9/3/12. THE TORNADO TOUCHDOWN POINT WAS

NEAR DAWSON LANE IN THE BARCLAY FARMS SUBDIVISION. THE TORNADO

TRACKED PARALLEL TO NEARBY TRAIN TRACKS FROM SOUTH TO NORTH. THE

TORNADO CAUSED STRUCTURAL DAMAGE TO SEVERAL HOMES IN THE

SUBDIVISION FROM DALBY LANE TO CAREY LANE. ONE FIREFIGHTER WAS

INJURED WHILE ATTEMPTING TO PROVIDE ASSISTANCE TO A RESIDENT OF

THE AREA. ANOTHER PERSON WAS INJURED DUE TO A CUT FROM GLASS. BOTH

INJURIES WERE MINOR AND THE INJURED WERE RELEASED FROM THE

HOSPITAL. THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE ACKNOWLEDGES HELP AND

ASSISTANCE FROM THE KENT COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY.

A WATERSPOUT THAT BEGAN OVER THE NEW YORK HARBOR ENTRANCE WATERS

MOVED ONSHORE AT THE BREEZY POINT SURF CLUB...AND PASSED OFFSHORE

NEAR BEACH 216TH STREET. THE PARENT STORM CROSSED ROCKAWAY INLET

AND MAY HAVE SPAWNED AN ADDITIONAL TORNADO IN THE CANARSIE

SECTION OF BROOKLYN. A DAMAGE SURVEY THERE IS STILL ONGOING.

TORNADO NEAR CANARSIE IN KINGS COUNTY NEW YORK ON SEPTEMBER

8TH 2012.

 

THIS TORNADO WAS ASSOCIATED WITH THE SAME SEVERE THUNDERSTORM

THAT PRODUCED A WEAKER TORNADO NEAR BREEZY POINT IN QUEENS

COUNTY. THAT TORNADO WAS GIVEN AN EF0 CLASSIFICATION.

 

THERE WAS STRUCTURAL DAMAGE TO SEVERAL HOMES AS WELL AS DAMAGE

TO SEVERAL LARGE TREES IN CANARSIE PARK.

            ENCOUNTERED ALONG ROUTE 519 IN EIGHTY FOUR TO ALONG

            BROWNLEE ROAD NEAR GAMBLES CONSISTENT WITH WIND SPEEDS

            OF 80 TO 85 MPH. DAMAGE CONSISTED OF SNAPPED AND

            UPROOTED HARDWOOD AND SOFTWOOD TREES...DESTRUCTION OF

            SMALL OUTBUILDINGS AND MODEST SHINGLE REMOVAL ON A

            STRUCTURE. A CAR WAS BLOWN ONTO ITS SIDE ALONG ROUTE 519

            DURING THE TORNADO. DAMAGE EXHIBITED A CYCLONICALLY

            CONVERGENT PATTERN AS THE TRACK ADVANCED

            NORTH-NORTHEASTWARD.

09/27/2012                   ALLEGHENY          PA   NWS STORM SURVEY

 

            DAMAGE TO TREES WAS NOTED ALONG AND SOUTHWEST OF GRANT

            AVENUE EXTENSION IN WEST MIFFLIN. SOFTWOOD TREES AND

            LARGE HARDWOOD TREE LIMBS WERE SNAPPED AND DRAGGED.

            CEMETERY HEADSTONES WERE BLOWN OVER. THE EXPOSED FRONT

            PORCH OF A HOME ALONG GRANT AVENUE EXTENSION WAS

            UPLIFTED AND DEPOSITED ON THE ROOF OF THE HOME.
