Weather in the New York metro area made the news last weekend as unusually heavy downpours disrupted the US Open Golf Championship, forcing a Monday finish due to weather rather than a playoff. Totals in the region during the first day of the Open were as high as 1.91 inches. The total of 7.29 inches made this time period the 2nd wettest since 1948.
