Still a Chance of Frost
The average date of the last spring frost varies across the region, from mid-April to early June.
After the warm spell during the first week of April, it was natural to forget that there is still a chance of frost in much of the Northeast. The conditions that lead to spring frost are clear skies, calm winds and cold temperatures. The National Weather Service is the agency responsible for issuing frost advisories and warnings. The NWS homepage has a map with an overview of current warnings and advisories, including frost, in the Northeast.
