Drought Busting Rain
Heavy rain affected parts of the region in late September and early October.
The drenching rains that fell on parts of the Northeast September 30th through October 2nd certainly relieved the dry conditions in the region. Unfortunately, the heavy, steady rain also disrupted travel, sent rivers and streams over their banks and flooded low-lying neighborhoods. Records were broken, including the all-time daily total at Binghamton, NY where the total of 4.24 inches surpassed the previous all-time daily record of 4.05 inches set on June 27, 2006. Totals at a few locations exceeded the 100-year amounts.
