2010 was a warm year in the Northeast, but not the warmest. The region averaged 49.2 degrees F, which placed 2010 as the 5th warmest year since 1895. The Northeast’s warmest year was 1998, with an average of 50 degrees F. New Hampshire and Rhode Island had their warmest year since recordkeeping began 116 years ago and seven states were in the top ten warmest on record. Five of the cities in the region had their warmest year on record while 18 other cities placed within the top ten warmest on record.
