October - Trick or Treat
With the exception of West Virginia, October was a warm month in the Northeast.
October almost tricked us into thinking it was September again as temperatures were eerily warm. The majority of the Northeast was 1 to 6 degrees warmer than normal. All but three of the 35 airport climate sites saw above-normal temperatures, with 18 sites ranking the month among their top 20 warmest.
October precipitation ranged from less than 50% of normal to more than 200% of normal.
The middle month of meteorological fall brought above-normal precipitation to 22 of the airport climate sites, with 12 of them ranking this October among their top 20 wettest. The precipitation was a welcome treat for areas dealing with dry conditions. However, some areas are still wicked dry.
