Rained-Out June
This June is ranking as one of the rainiest on record at LaGuardia Airport.
Weather in the New York metro area made the news last weekend as unusually heavy downpours disrupted the US Open Golf Championship, forcing a Monday finish due to weather rather than a playoff. Totals in the region during the first day of the Open were as high as 1.91 inches. Most of the Northeast has seen above normal rainfall this month, including LaGuardia Airport, where the first 22 days of the month approached the record setting 9.84 inches that fell in 2003. The total of 7.29 inches made this time period the 2nd wettest since 1948.
