Spring Drought
Precipitation has been well below normal for much of the region so far this year.
At a time when snowmelt, saturated soils, and springtime flooding are the typical concerns, much of the region is dealing with very dry conditions. The map above illustrates the percent of normal precipitation the Northeast has received so far this year, with almost the entire region below normal. Of our First Order stations, 29 stations rank in the top 20 for driest year-to-date and 6 rank as their driest.
