A Rundown of November and Fall
November temperatures were more than 2°F below normal for a majority of the region.
It was a cooler-than-normal November at all 35 first-order climate sites, with fifteen ranking the month among their top twenty coolest. With a cool September, warm October, and cool November, fall shaped up to be within one degree of normal at all but two sites.
Precipitation was generally below normal during the fall season.
Of the 35 climate sites, 28 sites received below-normal precipitation during November, with drought conditions persisting or worsening in several areas. A storm near Thanksgiving pushed snow totals above normal in some areas but overall 23 sites received below-normal snowfall for the month. Looking at fall, 27 sites were drier than normal, with ten ranking the season among their top twenty driest. On the other hand, of the eight wetter-than-normal sites, five ranked this fall among their top 20 wettest.
